The Doggies Do the Dunes

So on to the dunes...!

Notice the cute little dirt loops Zouey is kicking up.

A little lake of sorts in the duners.

Look how tiny the dogs look - or how expansive the dunes appear!

I think they had fun.  What do you think?!

Whoa!! What lake?! Woahink Lake, OR!

Back to our regular blog...  On May 21st, our next stop was Florence, Oregon.  This area is known for its coastal sand dunes, so appropriately, we wound up staying at a campground that had dune access - much to the delight of all our kids!  But here are a few shots on our way from Port Orford...
 Train loads of lumber.
 ??????
 Coos Bay.
 Piles of sawdust.
 Piles of pets.
 Leaving Coos Bay/North Bend.
The neat bridge over the bay.
A look at a clearcut and what must be a replanting.
Siltcoos Lake (just south of Woahink).
Our site at Woahink Lake RV Resort.  This campground has fairly easy access to the dunes, esp. for those with ATVs.
Scratty enjoys a snooze on the back of our new recliner.
A super pretty entrance (to somebody's palace?) near the lake.
Not bad for a driveway, eh?!
And here, here is Woahink - just across the street from the RV park.

Fun with Fireworks

We love spending the 4th here in our fav CO campground!  Unlike in San Diego, there is very little in the way of crowds, traffic, and poorly behaved people!  For the past couple decades or so, things have been so bad (and getting worse!) back home we didn't dare venture anywhere near any fireworks displays on this holiday!  Call us sissies or call us smart, we just stayed home.  So it's SUCH a treat to be able to celebrate in style, in comfort, and in safety here!!!  At our campground, everyone pitches in and decorates and then we all enjoy a collaborative potluck, with the hosts making several flavors of ice cream and some of the best BBQ chicken you'll find.  Afterwards, some of us head off to watch the fireworks (and feed the local mosquito population).  And, of course, I already shared what happens in this town early in the morning (the balloons!).

While Bill and the dogs (we were not thinking and didn't bring Tracky...  : (   )  watched from the truck, I was out photographing the show (and yes, providing direct access to the tons of tiny flying monsters).  So here's my collection from that night, including some I decided to have fun with.  Hope you like them as much as I liked creating them!

OK, now for some with a little more imagination...  : )
Firework flowers...

And palm trees!   : )

Happy 4th of July!!!!

So before we continue on our travels in Oregon, I need to interrupt with this message;
Thank you to our founders.
Thank you to our warriors, past and present.
Thank you to all who have fought and sacrificed in various ways for us to live the lives we do here, to enjoy good lives, incredible liberty, and nearly unfettered pursuit of anything we want!
And while I won't divulge on-line where we are spending our summers, I will say we are in a town and a campground that really know how to do the 4th!  They start off with hot air balloons - and how neat when the celebrations come to us!
Got the front of the RV cleaned a couple days ago, and got it decorated yesterday.
Three out of four furry inhabitants (Hayes is sort of in the shadows, in the passenger seat, Tractor is snoozing on the steering wheel platform, and of course, Zou is up front and center on the dash!) wish you a happy and grateful Independence Day!!!
