Last stop in California: Klamath

No, not Klamath Falls, in Oregon - Klamath, CA.  On the coast and in between Trinidad to the south and Crescent city to the north.  And in the middle of redwood country, as well.  Big Tree Country.
We saw several of these weird critters with hats and wheels and sometimes matching outfits...  Bill pointed out that the 101 would be a popular cross-country biking option as it's relatively level (compared to places like CO!), temperate, and beautiful.
A pretty scene out the window.
And a very pretty rest stop...
The dogs get to explore on a little nature trail, and hop on a giant log...

Zou and I go off on our own...
Zou takes a good look around...
and finds an even better look-out, atop this little ol' tree stump.
Scratty even comes out from her hide-out (now, behind the computers, or under the recliner, on traveling days) to join in on the explorations!
With the resplendent rhododendrons here, I just had to pose everyone.
Bill and Tractor oblige.
 Miss Scratty.
My baby, Zou.
 Our boy, Hazo.
More pretty scenery.  Here you see it on a cloudy day.  In a future post, I will show it with sun - even prettier!
OK, this one's for you, Karl (our retired truck-driving friend)!   :)   Raw wood, this time.
The scene from where I sit...  The dogs like to take advantage of the little opening on the dash where they can see the road ahead (esp. Shorty - Hayes).
We're getting close!  The bridge over the Klamath River, guarded by two golden bears.
Sorry, just couldn't pass this one up...!  Klamath wasn't as bad as this image might imply...but it really only consisted of a tiny post office, a gas station/mart/fried chicken place, and an Indian casino.  Not much going on...
Part of the great view from our site!  The Golden Bear RV Park (yeah, you know why they named it that now, right?!) may have been our first campground with pull-IN sites, so that us motorhome types could actually see the view from out our front windshield!!  Most sites are back-in or pull-through, neither of which provide for this indoor sight-seeing from a MH.  Better for those fifthwheels that have those giant rear windows...
A tiny, pretty little weed of some sort in our RV site.
And fun painting on our picnic table.  Fishing is obviously a huge draw for this campground!
And who are these two cute characters, peering out our screen door?!!
Brothers and sisters, they are often in sync (although they also have their differences and sometimes squabble amongst each other, just as siblings will do!).
The sun is setting, as Scratty enjoys her river view.
Good-night, Klamath.

  1. Love those big old tree areas. So peaceful and calming. Think I'll go hug a tree now. :)
